The
West End Youth Enquiry Service (WEYES) has been open
since 1997 and the purpose of the project is to offer health
related advice and support to young people aged 11 - 25 who
live/work in the West End of Newcastle.
WEYES
offers specialist drop ins such as:
• Sexual
Health Clinics
• Mental
Health Support
• Specific
Health Workshops
• Careers
Guidance
• Housing
Support
• Accreditation
& course in general health
• Basic
Skills Projects
• ICT
facilities
• General
Health Support
• Access
to C-Card (Condoms)
• Stop
Smoking Sessions
We also offer space for voluntary groups to meet clients and
space is also provided for statutory organisations such as
CAMHS, Newcastle District Adolescent Service and the Youth
Offending Team
Many
different activities go on within the project such as:
• Internet access
• Help with CV’s
and job applications
• Outreach work with schools
and youth clubs on issues such as mental health, sexual health
and drugs
The project covers
the whole West End of Newcastle and over the last year there
were 3500 contacts made, people have been seen in the 11-25
age group with a substantial percentage being from Black
and Ethnic Minority Groups, Asylum Seekers and Refugees.
