  Volunteering

Volunteers are vital to the work of Children North East and are used in many ways.

Both our Families Plus and Youth Link services are always looking for volunteers who will be specially trained to offer support to people in need.

At the moment we have an urgent need for volunteers for a new service called Hidden Harm that will be part of our Families Plus service.  This new service is about to launch in Northumberland and we need volunteers who are willing to be trained to work with families who have significant problems with any or all of the following:

  • Substance or alcohol misuse
  • Mental Health issues
  • Domestic violence

To become a volunteer you don't need any specific experience.  Personal qualities are more important as skills and knowledge will be gained and improved through the extensive training course offered which leads to an acredited qualification.  All that we ask is that you are:

  • reliable and trustworthy
  • non-judgemental
  • committed to helping others
  • adaptable and flexible
  • positive
  • a good communicator

If you are interested in volunteering for our Families Plus project or for the Youth Link projects then please get in touch by contacting Head Office on 0191 256 2444.

Fundraising Volunteers - There are many opportunities to help Children North East in your local community.

Throughout the year volunteers can help with collections and raffles, helping out at events, distributing our collecting cans and trolley coin packs and helping us to broaden our links with the local community through sports clubs, school, shops, places of worship etc.

Helping us out on a one of basis if great too especially at Christmas.
