Families
Plus
Children
North East believes that parents want the best for their children.
We know that children and young people do best in their lives
if they are brought up in stable families with the support
of their parents. The purpose of Families Plus is to offer
a range of tailored services and support to families who are
struggling with difficulties that are entrenched and often
arising from their own childhood experiences
Fathers
Plus
The Children
North East Fathers Plus project commenced in 1997 and has
grown to be of national and international significance.
The project aim is to ensure that men in caring roles are
valued, supported and included in all approaches to work with
children and families.
Youth Link
Children North East has set
up a new model of working in two areas of the region, Sedgefield
District in Co Durham and Tynedale in Northumberland. The
project, Youth Link, recruits, trains and maintains a pool
of young people aged 16-25. The young volunteers work alongside
adult volunteers to support families where there is a family
crisis centered around the handling of adolescent issues.
West End Youth Enquiry
Service (WEYES)
The
West End Youth Enquiry Service has been open since 1997 and
the purpose of the project is to offer health related advice
and support to young people aged 11-25 who live/work in the
West End of Newcastle.
Sure
Start Children's Centre Western Tynedale
Children North
East are the providers of the Sure Start Children's Centre
Western Tynedale. The Children's Centre in Western Tynedale,
part of the Northumberland Children's Centre programme, operates
from premises in Haltwhistle and serves a large rural area
in that most westerly part of the county.
Gateshead
Supporting Children
The
project focus is to help primary school children in Gateshead
Borough. Gateshead Supporting Children comprises of two elements
and the focus of both is to help children to achieve their
potential by reducing the risk of social exclusion.
Scotland
Gate Project
Children
North East has been asked by Northumberland Children's Fund
to provide services to children and young people aged 5-13
who are living in Scotland Gate, Choppington - an area of
the region with particular difficulties.
PESCO
The Parenting Education and Support Coordination
Service contributes to improving
outcomes for children and young people by working to ensure
that mothers, fathers and carers have access to the support
they need in their parenting role.
